I’ve never applied for an apartment before, what do I do?
You’re not alone! Many of our residents are living in their very first apartment here at College Crest. Our helpful staff is available 6 days a week to assist you with the process, but we also have an application guide for your reference! Find it here: Application Guide
How do utilities work?
We have a monthly flat rate utility fee of $25.00 that includes internet, water, sewer, trash. The electricity will be the residents responsibility.
Do I need to get electricity set up in my own name?
When do I get to know who my roommates are?
We will email out residents 2-3 weeks before move-in with the contact information of your official roommates.
I signed a lease for next fall, but my plans changed! Can I cancel my lease?
Unfortunately, you cannot. A lease is a binding legal contract, and you are responsible to make rental payments throughout the duration of the lease. However, if you are a future resident whose plans have changed or if you are a current resident who would like to move out - we have a very simple process to relet your apartment! Reletting your apartment is essentially selling your lease. You will be responsible for finding a person to take over your lease, and the office can assist you with their application process. How does parking work?
There are two parking lots available first come first serve.
Is there a security deposit?
No. We charge $150 for your application fee, which is nonrefundable, but no additional deposit is required!
How does my lease payment work?
Your lease is split between 12 monthly installments based upon the length of your lease. Your monthly installment is due on the first of each month. You can make these payments through your online portal.
What are your rental qualifications?
In order to sign a lease, it is necessary for you or your guarantor to have a monthly income equal to or exceeding three times the rent amount, as well as a minimum credit score of 600. Are you pet friendly?
Yes, additional $300 nonrefundable deposit & pet rent is $35 per month.
How close are you to campus?
We are just 1.2 miles away from campus!
Do you require renters’ insurance?
At College Crest, you must provide proof of renter's insurance at move-in. We are partnered with a third-party liability waiver - Foxen! To go through College Crest for your insurance, it will be $14.00/month. If you choose to purchase your own plan, see detailed instructions here.
Are the units furnished?
We have furnished and unfurnished options available!
What keys will I be provided?
Depending on your unit floorplan you will receive 1 to 3 keys, one of which will be the key directly used for your apartment room.
How do I submit a maintenance request?
You can do this through the resident portal app! Be sure to let your roommates know what you’ve requested maintenance on and when.
How does the mail work?
USPS, UPS, and FedEx brings all mail to the office which we will sort for you and hold until you come and pick it up.
Can I hang things up on my walls?
Yes you can, but only use small finishing nails and pins. Notify the office if you plan on using screws or larger nails to hang up any items or shelves that require more support. In addition, prior to you moving out, you will need to contact staff to fill in any holes or abbrasions to walls during the duration of your stay at College Crest.
If my unit comes furnished, can I move my furniture?
Yes and no. You are more than welcome to rearrange your furniture within your space! However, you may not move any furniture from your unit and will be charged if applicable.
What condition does the apartment have to be in when I move out?
Other than normal wear and tear, your unit needs to look exactly as it did when you moved in! Be sure to fill out the move-in condition form on the your move-in day!
